Description

Construction 102 in Canada is a collaborative initiative between the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) and their partner construction associations across Canada. Construction 102 in Canada supplements the essential two-day Construction 101 in Canada course. Designed for those working in a construction office, consulting office, project owner/developer office, on-site field office or providing support services in both the construction and design sectors who may be new or recently introduced to industrial, commercial, institutional and civil construction (ICI+C) in Canada. 

Building on Construction 101 in Canada, Construction 102 introduces the attendee to a deeper understanding of two critical and fundamental themes and industry best practices. Advanced Procurement; Advanced contract administration, and standardized contract terms and conditions A third theme is presented to attendees to discuss and contemplate current trends, future trends and tools available and deployed today in the Canadian construction industry; specifically, the industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors.

Construction 102 in Canada Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are as follows: 

• Advance a fundamental understanding of procurement principles that apply to bidding and tendering and requests for proposals (RFP’s)
• Advance learning about traditional contemplations of construction contract terms and conditions used in industrial, commercial, institutional and civil construction in Canada
• Advance learning of contract administration processes, including change management, progress billing and project closeout, including Ready-for-Takeover. 
• Discussion and contemplation of emerging trends, technology in use today and tomorrow, their impacts and potential. 

Recommended For: Individuals working in or moving into management, coordination, administration, or consulting roles within the ICI and Civil construction industry. Project managers or coordinators; contractor, consultant or owner representatives Field supervisors and site staff, including those tending Superintendents Consultants: architects, engineers, estimators, and contract administrators Administrative and operations support staff Owner/Developer representatives and public-sector staff Vendors, suppliers, and service providers, including lawyers, commercial realtors, insurance and bonding professionals Contractors, consultants and real estate professionals new to Canada This is not a construction industry trades-focused course. It’s designed for those who administer, support, and contribute to the construction process and want to understand the full picture of how all the stakeholders, processes, and decisions come together to build an ICI+C project.
